Questions, answered straight.

Pricing, the free tier, recurring giving, pledges, migrating off another CRM, data export, and how we handle security. If something here is unclear, email support@donorforge.org.

Pricing & trial
Is there really a free tier?
Yes. The free plan covers small organizations indefinitely. Paid plans only kick in when you outgrow the free limits, not before. It is a real free tier, not a time-limited trial that expires into a paywall.
What does the 14-day free trial include?
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day trial of all paid features, no credit card required up front. Your data persists if you choose not to convert; you simply stay on the free tier.
Do early adopters keep their rate?
Yes. The introductory pricing shown on the pricing page is locked for any organization that signs up while it is current. When prices rise later, your rate stays put for as long as you stay on the plan.
How do payment processing fees work?
Donations are processed through your own connected payment processor. Processing fees are paid to that processor, not to DonorForge. We do not add a platform percentage on top of donations.
Can I downgrade or cancel?
Anytime. Your data stays put; features outside your new tier become read-only rather than being deleted. There is no annual contract requirement.
Product & features
What can DonorForge actually do?
DonorForge is an all-in-one donor CRM: donor records with giving history and household relationships, online donation pages with custom branding, recurring donations with retry logic, pledge tracking with automated installment reminders, peer-to-peer fundraising teams, grant management from application to payout, event ticketing and seat reservations, automated thank-you emails, donor pipelines and tasks, bookkeeping with bank reconciliation, and board-ready reports.
Does DonorForge handle recurring giving?
Yes. Recurring donations support monthly and other cadences, with retry logic on failed charges (expired cards, fraud-rule declines) and donor self-service to update their own card, so a single expired card does not silently end a recurring gift.
Can donors give online without an account?
Yes. Public donation and campaign pages let donors give without creating an account, on your own branding. Peer-to-peer team pages and an embeddable campaign widget are also available.
Does it track pledges?
Yes. Pledges are first-class: you can schedule installments, send automated bill-pay reminders, and apply forgiveness rules. Pledge balances reconcile against the gifts that satisfy them.
Is there a mobile app?
There is no native iOS or Android app yet. The web app is responsive and works on mobile browsers. Tap-to-pay handheld terminals are available for in-person giving at events and in the lobby.
Migration & data export
Can I migrate from Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, or another CRM?
Yes. CSV imports are built in. On paid plans we help with field mapping and recurring-giving re-authorization. See the migration guides linked from each comparison page for a step-by-step on your specific source system.
Can I export my data if I leave?
Yes. Your data is yours. Donors, donations, pledges, and related records export to CSV at any time. We do not hold your data hostage; clean export is part of why the trial is a real trial.
How long does migration take?
Most small-to-medium organizations are live within about two weeks. A typical migration is a handful of CSV imports plus re-authorizing recurring donors with the new processor. There is no multi-week mandatory onboarding.
Security & data
How is my organization’s data isolated?
DonorForge is multi-tenant by design. Every record is keyed by organization at the database level, and every server-side query enforces org membership before returning data. One organization cannot see another organization’s data.
Is donor data encrypted?
Yes. Customer data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS. Payment card data is tokenized in the browser by a PCI Service Provider Level 1 vendor and never reaches DonorForge servers.
What compliance attestations apply?
DonorForge runs on infrastructure with independent third-party attestations including SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS for payment-handling components. Specific vendor relationships and attestation reports are shared with prospective enterprise customers under NDA. See the security page for the full posture.
How do I report a security issue?
Email security@donorforge.org with reproduction steps. We acknowledge within one business day and triage within five. See the security page for the full disclosure process.
